Passivhaus Open Days 2025

We’re really excited to share with you that Progress in Practice will be participating in the Passivhaus Open Days on 28th June this year. We have not one, but two opportunities for you to come and have a look around Passivhaus projects in the Greater Manchester area. Which one you choose may depend on your interests, so we’ll try and give you a flavour of what you can expect to see - or maybe you’ll join us for both!

Stretford EnerPHit

Come and see an inspiring retrofit project, where our wonderful clients are taking their project ‘all the way’. The project is aiming to achieve the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard, which has included extensive work to the existing building, making the fabric fit for purpose for many years to come and completely modernising the building services and finishes internally.

The project is on site, so you will have the opportunity to see under the hood of a deep retrofit, including the wood fibre internal wall insulation, airtightness strategy and timber I-joist construction for the modest extension.

Hannah will be hosting you, teaming up with Josh Day from Myzsa Construction, who is responsible for delivering the project on site. Bring your questions and curiosity.

Silver Wings Passivhaus

If you are more interested in new buildings, we have the perfect project for you. Silver Wings is aiming for Passivhaus certification, using a highly insulated pre-fabricated timber frame and will be finished using low carbon timber cladding. In a beautiful rural setting not far from South Manchester, this project has been designed to take in the sweeping views of the surrounding farm land. The project is at a great stage for visits as all of the airtightness layer will be exposed for you to look at (but if you see any holes you are obliged to let us know!) and you will be able to see how the timber frame is pieced together.
Stephen will be leading this tour, having led the project throughout the design stage and will be there to answer all of your awkward questions!

We would encourage you to make the most of this opportunity and get to see as many low energy projects as you can! Passivhaus Trust Open Days 2025
