An Area Based Scheme set up by Carbon Co-op as an approach to scaling up retrofit for the owner-occupier market. The scheme takes a person-centred approach to retrofit, whilst Carbon Co-op provide the householders with a Trusted Intermediary to help individuals and families navigate, the somewhat complex landscape of retrofit and construction. The person-centre approach was achieved through a series of Retrofit Workshops, giving householders an opportunity to feed into and shape their retrofit. Householders were provided with choices on colours of render and window design, and were given the option to opt-in or out of additional measures.

Delivered using an innovative and collaborative partnering contract, the scheme fostered a positive, problem solving environment from beginning to end.
